My wife and I saw something similar to this arbor in a This Old House Magazine. I built the arch (in white) out of three pieces of poplar. The 4x4 post is treated pine and the straight horizontal section is of red-wood. It is a nice little accent piece that was enjoyable to build. The fence is a personal design I came up with. It is repeated on the west side of our house where beachgrass grows aplenty.
The claw foot tub in the back ground? A customer wanted it out of their recently purchased house on short notice. I just couldn't throw it away. Eventually it was refinished and put in a library with some comfy pillows as a reading spot for kids.
